Cricket British Columbia (BC) has proudly announced
that the 8th Edition of its Annual Big Bash Cricket
Tournament, BC BIG BASH, will be held during our
Canada day Long weekend (1st, 2nd & 3rd July 2022)
at Surrey & Vancouver, BC. Registrations are now open for teams
interested in participating in this year’s tournament. An entry fee of
$4000 will be charged for each registered team. The Registration
deadline is 30th April 2022
This year’s tournament will have a quarter-final stage after the round-robin preliminaries. All matches will be live-streamed via YouTube!
Now in its eight-year, the Annual BC Big Bash Tournament was
founded in 2015 by current Cricket Canada President and BC Cricket
Vice-President Rashpal Bajwa. The 2015 Inaugural Tournament,
which was eventually won by Calgary United, featured 6 teams and
prize monies of $10,000.
By comparison, this year’s 2022 eight edition of the BC Big Bash
is expected to feature over 25 teams competing for prize monies
totalling $50,000. Internationally recognized players from all across
the globe have participated in BC Big Bash’s most recent editions.
The tournament’s now illustrious list of previous participants has
included Indian Premier League (IPL) notables such as Mandeep
Singh, Bipul Sharma and Gagan Singh.
Matches in this year’s BC Big Bash will be played simultaneously
at seven Surrey City venues. A reflection of the extent to which
the tournament has long since become an integral part of the local
societal fabric, and a major contributor to the City’s economy.
BC Big Bash’s parent organization, Cricket BC is the
Provincial Sport Organization for Cricket in British Columbia.
Its mandate is to Promote, Foster and Develop the playing
of the amateur sport of cricket throughout the Province of
British Columbia.
