Rayyan Pathan Leads Ontario To Canadian National T20 CShips Title

Money Man one month, Trophy Man the
next. Things just keep getting better for
Canada’s latest cricket sensation Rayyan
Pathan.

Having emerged as the big money winner during the June 11-22, 2022, Inaugural
Smart Investments Properties 2022 Canadian
Friendship Cup, Pathan was back in the limelight just
a few weeks later. Pathan scored 254 runs from 5
innings batted at an average of 65.50 and at a strike
rate of 145.14 to emerge as the leading runs scorer
in the recently concluded July 11-15, 2022, Canadian
National T20 Championships.

Pathan’s outstanding batting earned him the award of the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. An award which, most astonishingly, he was made to share with his recently debuted fellow Canadian National teammate, British Columbia’s Aaron Johnson. Despite having finished well behind Pathan on the leaderboard for the tournament’s highest
run-scorers, the Jamaican-born Johnson was
surprisingly announced as the tournament’s COMVP,
unprecedented to the best of our knowledge
for any cricket tournament of repute, during the
presentation ceremony that followed immediately
after the conclusion of the Final. Johnson scored
208 runs from 6 innings batted at an average of
40.75 and with a strike rate of 139.60.

Pathan also recorded the highest individual score
of 86, as one of the two half-centuries he scored
during the King City Maple Leaf Cricket Clubs
hosted five-day National T20 Championships,
which featured participating teams from all ten
of Cricket Canada’s Member Provinces: Alberta,
British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland,
Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward
Island, Quebec and Saskatchewan. He also struck
9 sixes, and 31 fours in his five innings batted.
