Born in Toronto, Canada of Caribbean parentage,
eighteen-year of Ethan Jordan Gibson admits
somewhat surprisingly to being a huge fan of
many things that are Australian. On his Official ICC
2022 U19 World Cup Bio Questionnaire, Gibson lists
Australia as his favorite vacation destination, and that
country’s National cricket team as his most watched.
He also lists triple entries for Steve Smith as his favorite
all-time cricketer, the player whose game is most similar
to his own and the most coveted international wicket
he could ever hope to capture.

There’s absolutely no indication on Gibson’s Bio as to
origins of his obviously now deep-sated love for things
Australian. What is indicated, is that he impressively
scored his first century at the very young age of 13,while
playing for the Mississauga Ramblers Cricket Club.

That momentous occurrence was just six years after
Gibson had started his Canadian cricket journey by
becoming a member of the Toronto Cricket Club at
the age of 7. He had been inspired to do so by his Dad,
who was at the time also an active cricketer.

Despite favoring the longer 50 over format as his
favorite, because in his own words ‘it provides
more fun,” Gibson, however, lists playing in both the
Caribbean and Indian Premier Leagues as his ultimate
cricket ambitions. Towards that end his intention
for the forthcoming ICC U19 World Cup will be for
his performances to allow him to be recognized as a
potentially great future player, fully worthy of CPL and
IPL participation.

Here’s wishing our Caribbean heritage, Canadian born,
Aussie oriented Ethan Jordan Gibson every success at
the 2022 U19 World Cup, towards the fulfillment of his
ultimate cricket ambitions. Go Well Young Man!
