Cricket Ontario recognizes and
applauds the achievement of the
players and management team
selected to represent Canada at the
2022 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup to
be staged in the Caribbean from January
14th to February 5th.
We are proud to witness the development of the players
especially those who have come through
the Cricket Ontario High Performance
programs and tournaments. The players
have performed admirably over the
years and now they get to showcase
their talent at the international level.
Cricket Ontario wishes the team best of
luck and is confident in the player’s ability
to perform well.
Farouk Kirmani, the Head Coach
of Canada U19 is confident that the
players will represent Canada well at
the international tournament and turn in
outstanding performances.
Postponement of programs
Due to concern with the growing number
of positive cases of the Omicron variant
and Covid-19 within the last several
days, the Cricket Ontario Executive
Committee decided to suspend Cricket
Ontario 2022 winter camp programs
effective immediately as of December
20, 2021 until February 2022.
Prior to the postponement there was
high interest from our women and youth
players that registered and showed up
for the first round of trials at the U16
and U18 age category. There were 56
youth players, both boys and girls that
turned up for the 2022 Winter camp.
Players have been eager to attend the
trials since the 2021 winter camp was
cancelled due to the pandemic.
The decision was made with the health and safety of our players and coaches as the
primary factor. We will be monitoring the current situation closely and participants will
be informed of the re-start for the Youth & Women Camps. We will carefully re-assess
the situation ensuring that the environment is safe for all participants and coaches. We
encourage our members to follow all public health guidelines and play their part to
prevent a resurgence in Covid-19.
