Outstanding allrounder, Saad Bin Zafar will be at the helm of
the Canadian National Men’s team for its participation at the
Malaysia-hosted Cricket World Cup Challenge League A. The
points table leader at the end of the tw0-week tournament
involving Canada, Denmark, Singapore, Vanuatu, Qatar and hosts Malaysia will
progress to the Zimbabwe-hosted March 2023 final Qualifier to determine
the remaining participants for the 2023 ICC World Cup to be held in India
next October.
Bin Zafar replaces Navneet Dhaliwal who will only be available for the
latter half of the Canadian tour. The Canadians will also be involved in
a November 10-30 pre-tour in Oman prior to their arrival in Malaysia.
The seventeen-member Canadian squad for both tours will be as
follows: Saad Bin Zafar (Capt.), Navneet Dhaliwal, Nikhil Dutta,
Dilon Heyliger, Aaron Johnson, Nicholas Kirton, Akhil Kumar, Ammar
Khalid, Armaan Kapoor, Shreyas Movva, Salman Nazar, Kaleem Sana,
Pargat Singh, Ravinderpaul Singh, Matthew Spoors, Harsh Thaker and
Srimanthe Wijeratne.
The Canadian squad will be cached by Pubudu Dassanayake, who was recently
reappointed for his second stint as Canadian National Men’s Coach. Dassanayake had
previously held the position from 2008-2011.
