Canada’s Red Army Senior Men’s team and it’s coaching staff departed for Malaysia on September 13, 2019. The Canadians were off to participate in the International Cricket Council’s 2023 Cricket World Cup Challenge League A qualification Tournament.
The 2019 Malaysia Cricket World Cup Challenge League A was the inaugural edition of Group A of the 2019–21 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League, a cricket tournament which formed part of the qualification pathway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup. In July 2019, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the Malaysia Cricket Association would host the tournament. The series took place between 16 and 26 September 2019, with all the matches having List A status.
The six competing countries for the Tournament were Canada, Denmark, Singapore, Qatar and hosts Malaysia. The 15 match Tournament was scheduled to be played in a round-robin format with the six competing teams playing each other once.
On September 10, 2019 Canada’s National Selectors announced the Canadian 14 Member Squad to the Malaysia hosted CWC Challenge League A Championships as follows:
