Name: Arjuna Gurudev Sukhu
DOB: January 14, 2004
City & Country Of Birth:
Toronto, Canada
Playing Role: Batsman

Born into a cricketing family, his uncle Surendra
Seeraj having represented Canada at the National
level, Arjuna Sukhu has been actively involved in
cricket since his initial introduction to the sport at the
age of 4.

That initial introduction was made in the basement of
his family’s home by his Dad, who was himself also an
active cricketer, As father and son, they also watched a
lot of international matches on TV together and it was
that exposure that subsequently fueled Arjuna’s passion
for the sport which has burned brightly ever since.

A graduate of the Guyanese-born Sherriff Budhoo
owned Tranzac Cricket Academy, Arjuna now plays
his Canadian Domestic League cricket primarily as a
member of the Kaieteur Cricket Club. He very recently
lead the Club into the League finals before producing a
crucial knock which helped to produce the coveted win
and championship title.

With T20 cricket as his favorite format, Arjuna is now
already looking beyond next year’s U19 World Cup
towards eventually becoming a Canadian Men’s Senior
player in the shortest possible time frame. In the interim,
between the World Cup and the eventual fulfillment of
his National Senior Men’s team membership ambitions,
he also hopes to gain experience playing against
professional cricketers in conditions which will be
different to those he’s experienced to date in Canada.

Now still a student at Greater Toronto Area’s Markham
District High School, Arjuna will be celebrating his 18th
Birthday on January 14, just the day before Canada’s
opening match of its 2022 U19 World Cup campaign.
Wouldn’t it be nice for Arjuna to not only make
his Canadian international debut in that match but
also to mark the occasion with a most outstanding
performance? Here’s to both such scenarios actually
becoming realities!
