Cricket Ontario’s October Report!

Cricket Ontario Regional U17 and U19 Championships were played at Maple Leaf King City Grounds showcasing players from the East, West, North and South teams.
Ontario U17 East defeated Ontario U17 West in a keenly contested final. After being set a target of 217 to win from 50 overs, East was led by a superb all round performance from Kyle Karran who collected 3 wickets for a miserly 17 runs off his 8 overs opening the bowling. The talented Karran then returned to open the East innings and top scored with a match winning knock of 77 laced with 7 spanking fours and 2 mighty sixes. Karran was well supported by Jay Peshwa who hit 4 fours and a six in his 51 and skipper Ravindra Nauth’s brisk 36 from 30 balls with 3 fours and a six.
West batting first, reached their score with classy innings from opener, Khush Negandhi who made 53 that included 5 fours and top scorer Dilraj Deol’s 70 from 67 balls laced with 9 fours and a six. Bowling for East, Karran received outstanding support from Ranodeep Dutta who turned in 2/26 off 4 overs and Dushyant Vashisht’s 2/16 off 3 overs. They were well supported in the wickets column by Captain Ravindra Nauth, Dev Patel and Hamza Farhan with 1 wicket each.
Bowling for the West, Rean Singh picked up 2 wickets and there was a wicket each for Musa Salman, Anouh Fernandez and Param Patel.
The final for the U19 championship was a splendid display of cricket between bat and ball from talented players vying to be the next generation of Canadian cricketers. North defeated South by 3 runs. Batting first, North amassed 208/11 off 49.3 overs. Their innings was built around vital contributions from top scorer, Sahil Badin 47 with 4 fours, opener Anoop Chima 38 with 4 fours, Mohit Prashar 35 with 5 fours, Parmveer Kharoud 23 with 1 four and captain Arjuna Sukhu 22 with 2 fours.
Bowling for South, Ayush Singh and Adity Manjrekar collected 2 wickets each. They were ably supported by Muhammad Hussain, Sheel Patel and Jonathan Singh with each taking 1 wicket.
Chasing 209 for victory off their allotted 50 overs, South came up short by 3 runs in the nailbiting finish as they were all out for 205 off 49.4 overs. Batting for South, top scorer Sheel Patel showed his all-round skills with a fighting 65 which included 2 sixes and a four, Jash Shah 46 with 6 fours and Yuvraj Samra 35 provided great support.
Bowling for North, Ethan Gibson was the key wicket-taker claiming 3, Kairav Sharma with 2 and Parmveer Kharoud, Eran Maliduwapathirana, Manthan Desai and Harjap Saini with 1 wicket apiece.
