One To Watch: Parmveer Kharoud!

Born in Brampton,Ontario on June 24, 2004 Parmveer Kharoud
first became interested in and actively involved with cricket
at the age of 9. His interest in cricket which initially was
simply a source of fun, however, soon grew into a passion. So
much so that his outlook on cricket now, at the age of seventeen, is
that it is no longer merely a fun activity but much more of a career
opportunity, the success of which he’s driven to achieve. His love
for the sport has grown that much.

Not unlike so many cricket oriented youths of his age, Parmveer’s
Dad, Pardeep, has had the biggest influence to date on his now
rapidly developing career. Pardeep has always been at Parmveer’s
side, taking him to practices and constantly providing tips on how to
improve his game. The biggest thing Pardeep has done for Parmveer
though, has been to keep pushing him to stretch himself beyond
his limits, and to develop the self-belief that he is fully capable of
achieving anything he sets his mind on.

Pardeep’s ultimate, very lofty, ambition as a Canadian cricketer now
is to play a major role in helping Canada to win a World Cup. He
very simply just wants to bring the title “home” to Canada.
Towards the fulfillment of his very ambitious goals, Parmveer’s
Ontario Cricket Academy Coaches, Derek Perera and Gary Grewal,
have played a huge role in his practices, regimens and routines.
They have also provided him with a diet plan and exercises to do at
home, as a means of staying in shape all year round.

At practices, they constantly push him to go beyond to his limits.
Parmveer plays for the OCA as a right-handed pace bowler. He
signaled his prodigious talents two years ago, during the 2019
Ontario Regional Development Tournament.
Playing for the Greens against Reds he had
the outstanding figures of 3/32- 10, his three
victims captured in hat-trick succession.

Currently a member of the Canadian National
Junior Men’s Training squad that is engaged in
preparing for Canada’s participation in next
January’s Caribbean-hosted ICC U19 World
Cup, Parmveer will be hoping to be among
those finally selected for the tournament. If he
does his performances at the World Cup will
certainly, be One To Watch!
